Tredudwell Manor Wedding for Charlotte & Ben - July
There are some weddings that will always stick in your mind and this is one of them. Charlotte had been following me on instagram and is herself a keen gardener, always a huge tick for me when choosing to work with a client, her and Ben fell in love with surroundings of Tredudwell and started to dream up their outdoor wedding.
However, the great British weather had other ideas and leading up to the day double rain seemed to be on the cards with no glimmer of that lovely sun. Having to be the bearer of Plan B is often a moment I dread especially if couples have their hearts set on a Plan A. During a consultation I often talk about the Plan B weather option and feel like a complete party pooper but in reality it does have to be mention and considered. When the time came to accept that this weather front wasn’t shifting anytime soon Charlotte clicked into the solving mode with me (dream client tick number 2!) - this lady is one very organised bride and we quickly went about creating an indoor ceremony scene bringing the outside in. We added a beautiful foliage beam to the entrance of the barn which hung over a stunning bar that Charlotte had sourced. We brought the outdoor furniture in to create a cosy space at the front of the ceremony and lined the entire aisle with candles. I used a silver birch arch to create a backdrop for the couple to get married and we orientated the entire wedding ceremony to face the misty view - it really did look so beautiful.
We left the doors open to the reception space - Charlotte had worked so hard to source electric crockery that shutting it off didn’t feel right. Leaving the space open was an absolute winner…bravo Charlotte this may not have been Plan A but wow it looked incredible.
The day was captured by Lyra & Moth and what beautiful images they got. This wedding was just like out of a Poldark episode with all the mist….simply stunning.
So, if you are concerned about having to go with Plan B, don’t, look at what Charlotte and Ben managed to create. Trust in your florist, we are used to Plan B - it is Cornwall after all!
Huge thanks to the team involved in this wedding and of course to Charlotte & Ben for allowing me to share their beautiful day with you.
Bridal Party Flowers
It felt really special making Charlotte’s bridal bouquet. As I mentioned in my intro she is a keen gardener. This often makes me excited and nervous - but once I chose the first few flowers I settled into the rhythm of creating her bouquet. It was the Zinna’s I wanted to share with her (the little peach one in the middle of the bouquet). They are such a great little flower but often grown inside in this country as they like a lot of heat. I set about working around this little flower and mixed in the Koko Look rose, dahlias, phlox, hebe and Cornish heather. So much variety and movement it was a tricky one to hand over!
I kept the buttonholes in a simple creamy, white and green and added the hebe foliage to tie into the bouquets.
Ceremony Flowers
“I want it to look full - lots of flowers”….said Charlotte (dream client tick 3!).
Layering flowers in front of the arch created a depth of flowers which hugged the couple during the ceremony. Aisle planters marked the end of the aisle and lots of candles where placed on the floor making the space really magical.
Bringing the outdoor furniture inside made the space more relaxed and rather special.
Reception Flowers
At the entrance to the reception we wanted to create a really magical spot around the drinks bar. Dressing the beam both sides in the corners this hung beautifully over the bar with vintage glasses.
Large floor urns filled with seasonal flowers and those show stopping Koko Loko framed the walkway in the entrance leading to the long tables. Charlotte worked so hard leading up to this day, collection all the vintage pottery for her wedding. I combined this look with my own vintage stock of marmalade jars and bud vases. The overall design looked wonderful.
Congratulations Charlotte & Ben xx
