Yes is totally the answer!
All too often I have people scratching their heads trying to work out how they can still have British, locally grown flowers in Winter. Whilst we have to be a little more creative it is certainly still possible to have a beautifully seasonal wedding floral display in the winter months.
If you are having long tables I would recommend going for a larger low bowl like these below or the one above. Embracing the seasonal foliage is still like bringing the outside in which is what we always try to achieve in the high season. Adding a simple floral palette of ranunculus or scented paper whites will just elevate the arrangement.
It can also be fun to try something less wedding like. Long tables with potted plants can bring a Victorian glasshouse vibe to the overall design. Adding statement touches like candle holders and all dressed onto beautiful linens can look so great at this time of year.
Remember to play with scale if you choose this route. A larger plant like the lemon tree will balance out smaller elements like low spreading jasmines or succulents.
When planning a winter wedding try and think of the floral element as only one part of the entire styling plan of the tables. Each element has to work a little harder to bring an impactful presence to the room.
So my top tips are:
Invest in good linen - avoid white if you can, in the winter months it looks too stark.
Always have candle light - winter needs that warm glow. Consider having tapered candles in colours to bring some more colour to the scheme especially if your florals are white. Try mixing varieties of candles tapered and pillar.
Consider using plants in interesting planters to mix with bud vases of single variety flowers like paper whites.
